my story
Ali J Webber is the photographer and creative behind Studio Soft Water.
Her connection to image-making began in childhood, spent largely outdoors shaped by coastal air, wide skies, and an intergenerational family life that taught her early on how precious time is. That same attentiveness shows up in her work today: observant, unhurried, drawn to the quiet in-between moments.
She first picked up a film camera in high school, though it would be years before photography became her craft rather than a passing interest. In her twenties, travel, study, and life's harder lessons carried her through several chapters including years spent in the desert working in front of the camera, rather than behind it.
It was a camera gifted by her partner that changed the trajectory moving her from subject to artist, and reshaping the way she sees the world, and her place within it.
Studio Soft Water is where that perspective now lives.

“Ali is one of the only photographers who’d most likely end up naked with you for a photo shoot. She’s hilarious and full of life. Her ability to connect and comfort you through out a shoot. Adds such a balm to the transformative, healing powers of having your photo taken, in nature, by a woman. To be bare in the open air, captured by someone so special is an expense in it self”

“Iv known Ali for years and have been encouraging her to take photos properly. Its so special to see what she’s now creating for people. Look forward to seeing the coffee table book she creates. A healing expense to be seen and captured through the eyes of a woman.”

Having my photo taken by Al, was so fun and professional. I love working with her and look forward to creating with her for the years to come.
